drowsy in the midday

about

lowkey introspection

lyrics

sleepless dreams of memories
where the honey is sweet and the tea is green
the rain is cold her tears are warm
she ushered in a heartbreak song
summer fell upon the spring
so now April is green with revery
so may is queen and June is king
they look down on the autumn breeze

to leave me drowsy in the midday

she wove a tapestry with no yarn
just a single thread and a single scar
she spoke in four part harmony
but all the chords sound the same to me
the agnostic gardener plants his seed
but he doesn't know where life may lead
and if all our minds are one day freed
he thinks we'll see what he can see already

oh, but he's still drowsy in the midday

awaken in a new day's bliss
awake before I get my kiss
the song that I will never sing
is underneath her wedding ring
half hearted lies and promised things
a dalliance in our history
she's serpentine and so serene
the apple in her bitter teeth leave me drowsy
